Just ten minutes from the Suffolk coast, Halesworth is a delightful location. A vibrant town, not overwhelmed by tourism, but offering a great selection of pubs, cafes, bistros, shops and attractions. With galleries, antique shops, a museum, a buzzing arts scene, parks and historic buildings there is plenty to do within a stone’s throw of the cottage.
With a railway station and comprehensive bus service, it is easy to get to the local towns of Southwold, Beccles and Bungay and to travel further afield to Lowestoft, Ipswich and Norwich for a day out, all on public transport.

From quiet walks along the River Blyth, and historic paths and coastal walkways along the heritage coast, to busy town and village centres, country estates and heritage sites, all in this area of natural beauty.

Places To Visit
Whilst staying at The Wherry don’t miss out on visiting Southwold harbour and town, Dunwich beach, Minsmere Nature Reserve, Covehithe lowlands, Beccles town and Heveningham estate. That will give you a taste of the local area and whet your appetite.
The many festivals and events in the immediate vicinity are listed on local What’s On sites, from Halesworth Arts Festival, to Walberswick Crabbing competition, Latitude Festival, Thorington Outdoor theatre and a full calendar at the Cut arts centre.
The local 18 hole golf course, set in 190 acres, is within walking distance of the cottage, as are first-class horse riding and bike hire amenities. Sunrise and sunset swimming in the sea is on offer 365, and sailing, surfing or kayaking is just 15 minutes away.
